Econoliser Knife Sterilisers are extremely reliable and easy to install and maintain.
The Econoliser Knife Steriliser is extremely effective at reducing water usage and energy usage. It is also extremely straight-forward to install and maintain. Our team will be available throughout the installation period to handle all issues.
Here are some of the questions our customers’ engineering teams had with their answers. If we have missed any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
How does it work?
It spray water onto the knife blade
How reliable are they?
Providing the users maintain them in accordance with the users manual we would expect them to last for 20+ years
How easy are they to work on?
They are what we describe as a cassette type unit, the water heater, valve, prox switch ie everything that may eventually need replacing, slide out the bottom or top of the unit as a cassette, it takes less than 2 minutes to have the cassette out ready to go back to the workshop, however, we are suggesting users hold a spare serviceable cassette for every 15 Econolisers they have, this can be swapped with the faulty cassette meaning the steriliseris up and running in less than 5 mins with very little effort, then the cassette can be sent back to us for an exchange unit, removing the need for your maintenance personel to work on them.
What services are need to install them?
Each Econoliser requires a 10.5A 220/240Vac 50/60Hz electrical supply via an isolator switch
Potable water at any temperature from cold up to ≥ 82°C (Normally handwash water) at a min pressure of 3 bar and with a pipe large enough to flow 5 ltrs/min again with a ballvalve fitted to isolate.
Outlet needs connected to the drains
Who installs them?
You can if you have the manpower, install them yourselves or if you have a local S/S fabrication company, you can get them to install them. Either way before you or they start installing them we will spend a day or so briefing them on the do’s and don’ts of installing and commissioning the Econolisers.
How are they supported?
You can attach them to the wall if you happen to have a wall handy or we can supply a custom made stand for the Econolisers which can be bolted to the floor or welded onto the side of a platform etc. This makes it even easier for who ever is installing them.
How long will the Electric element last?
We use monel metal sheathed electric elements, not copper which has a very low melting point, we also protect the units from overheating with a manually resettable thermostat + with no more than 1.75 hrs use in a typical day we are finding that providing customers don’t switch the units on with either no water in them or very little we have units in the field that have been working for nearly 5 years, We don’t know is the honest answer but I suspect it could be as much as 10years.
How much do existing customers spend per year maintaining them?
Average spend would be less than £50 and the majority of that is on new nozzles as people don’t bother cleaning them if they are blocked or partially blocked, they just replace them.
